SolarTEK Energy offers solar thermal products from several different manufacturers. This gives us the flexibility to design a system specifically to fit your unique application and budget. All of our solar thermal products are SRCC tested and certified and qualify for the 30% federal tax incentive. Gone are the days of the huge, ugly collectors of the 70's and 80's. Modern day collectors are much more efficient, so less collector area is required, plus they are much more aesthetically pleasing. SolarTEK Energy will assist you every step of the way with your solar thermal project, be it a basic domestic hot water system, solar pool heating system, or a complex space or radiant floor heating application requiring sophisticated controls. From consultation, to design, installation, to system start up and monitoring, and beyond, our consultants will work with you to design a system that will work best for your unique application, and that stays within your budget. Our engineers will make sure the system is designed with optimum efficiency. Our experienced installers will make sure the system is installed to exacting standards. We will take care of all licensing and permitting requirements. Our goal with every project, no matter how large or small, is 100% client satisfaction.
We are on the Governors Energy Office (GEO) list of approved installers for solar thermal.

Apricus Evacuated Tube Solar Collector
The Apricus Solar Collector or Solar Water Heater is a device that absorbs thermal energy from the sun and converts it into usable heat. The heat is normally absorbed by water, or a freeze resistant water mix, which can then be used to supplement hot water heating, space heating and even space cooling via use of an absorption chiller or desiccant cooler technology.

The operation of the solar collector is very simple.
1. Solar Absorption: Solar radiation is absorbed by the evacuated tubes and converted into heat.
2. Solar Heat Transfer: Heat pipes conduct the heat from within the solar tube up to the header.
3. Solar Energy Storage: Water is circulated through the header, via intermittent pump cycling. Each time the water circulates through the header the temperatures is raised by 5-10oC / 9-18oF. Throughout the day, the water in the storage tank is gradually heated.
Chromagen has fine-tuned the design and manufacture of solar collectors to an art. Collectors are assembled using the highest quality materials and advanced techniques, which result in highly-efficient, durable products you can depend on for years to come.
Chromagen panels are environmentally friendly, remarkably versatile and offer high performance even in extreme environments. Chromagen panels are suitable for all kinds of hot water systems and provide consistent results under any weather conditions.
Below is a cutaway of a Solene Chromagen collector, and descriptions of the components:
1. Absorber Plate
Consists of copper fins ultrasonically welded to copper risers, to provide excellent heat transfer between the fins and risers, ensuring high efficiency. Inexpensive yet durable aluminum absorber plate is available.
2. Absorber Plate Coating
Coated either with a sputtering coating, or with black chrome on nickel, or with highly distinctive black solar paint. All allow excellent energy absorption even in cooler climates.
3. Insulation
The absorber plate is encased in 25 mm rigid polyurethane foam, with an option to additional layer of glass wool, retaining the collector's heat.
4. Solar Glass Glazing
The single pane 3.2 mm solar glass is patterned to reduce reflection and tempered to maximize strength and durability. The 0.03% low iron oxide content enables a high solar transmittance of 91%.
5. Casings
All anodized aluminum extrusion casings are made of solid construction available in a natural or black, or red color.

6. Tubing Grid
5/8’’ or 8 mm copper risers brazed to 1 1/8” or 7/8’’ copper manifolds with optimal flow
distribution.
7. Piping Connection
Four 3/4" BSP female brass adapters , flare for quick fittings or clear cut edge for connector brazing.
8. Back Plate
The back plate is made of black polypropylene sheet.
9. Aluminum Foil
The aluminum foil acts as a barrier against out-gassing, integrated to the insulation.
